    BP HOCKEY ACADEMY FLYERS TRENČÍN

    WHO WE ARE?

In 2006 BP Hockey Academy opened first private hockey academy in Slovakia. The mission of the BP Hockey Academy is to provide an excellent instructional and competitive environment aimed at developing highly competitive hockey players. Our philosophy is to provide both on-ice and off-ice training using professional hockey coaches for each player. Additionally, we ensure a competitive schedule designed to stretch players beyond their comfort zone. Playing hockey at the BP Hockey Academy requires players to exhibit a strong work ethic, commitment and sportsmanship as we strive to develop excellent hockey players of great character.

The idea of a unique project in Slovakia - BP Hockey Academy Flyers Trenčín was established on the basis of the needs of expanding our philosophy and methodology in the long term view. At the same time we are interested in educating generations of players of our own ideas about their personal and hockey growth. We are interested to train players for the needs of the world's clubs.

    WHY BP HOCKEY ACADEMY?

Because we believe in the development and enjoyment of becoming a lifelong hockey player. We believe that lessons learned from competition and learning good sportsmanship are valuable life lessons both on and off the ice. Head coaches will try to objectively assess the skills of each player during each training. Using a set series of drills designed to help demonstrate the skills needed to play the game, at the competitive level the evaluators will be looking for skating ability, stick handling, shooting ability, and knowledge of the game. Coaches also evaluate puck control with the stick and skates, forehand and backhand passing, and pass reception. Forward and backward skating, turning, “crossovers”, stopping, transitions and lateral movement are some of the skating skills that are also evaluated. It is our goal to provide a fun, competitive environment where young hockey players can gain the skills and experience needed to continue playing year after year.

    Our priority is:

      ·Training in small groups (4 – 6 players)

      ·Communication

      ·Object-lesson

·Correct technique of each player movements

      ·Change (adaptation) hockey gear

      ·Change the style of skating

      ·Change the puck movement style

      ·Change the style of shooting

Training cycles at BP the Hockey Academy Flyers Trenčín are created to include the current training process leading to the preparation for the match, but mainly focuses on improving individual sporting activities and to recast the proper technique of each player movements.

We have a special training units 4 times per week on the ice and 2 times per week off ice training. The established stylized model of BP perennial hockey school in this project adds matches and tournaments. All micro-cycles are planned and adapted to this fact.

    COMPETITION AND TOURNAMENTS

Travel teams are constituting the system preferred in North America. We are not a part of any league. Instead of league games the team will play tournament matches and friendly matches at their age category. For season 2015/16 the program is complemented on participation at tournaments in Europe (Czech, Hungary, Austria). Tournaments matches are more difficult. Teams are carefully selected, it means there is more quality and no “soft-games”.

    EDUCATION AND PERSONAL GROWTH

An important part of this project is the education of players, whether at the level of compulsory education or special training program BP Hockey Academy focused on foreign languages (English) or special seminars and lectures on social and professional topics related to not only about ice hockey in general (referees, rules of the game, history, and scouting agencies, social networks, etc.)

Education needs come first and any travel coach understands that there are some days when schoolwork may take precedence over ice hockey practice. Many players on the travel team work hard both in school and on the ice. BP Hockey's partner for education is City University of Seattle in the Trenčín, Slovakia. Their program “Study & Play” is a combination of university and hockey for international students. The program is especially suitable for those of who want to study toward Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree and play hockey. Players can choose to “Study & Play” for as little as one quarter (10 weeks) or up to four years (the entire BSBA degree). Or players can earn credits and transfer them back to their school upon their return to their country. For more information visit http://www.vsm.sk/hockey/ .

    Jan Gajdosik

    Scout of New York Rangers

“I know Peter since his childhood and he was as honest and hardworking hockey player as he is an ambitious and hardworking coach now. Boris Sadecky, Matej Galbavy, brothers Michal and Milos Romans, Dominik Novak or Michal Bilik who represented Slovakia at the youth categories are a reflection of his quality of work and success. I keep my fingers crossed for him because I know that he is looking for new ways and seeks to foster young players in their hockey progress. Moreover, he does it in the face of hockey abroad, his youth selections often travel to overseas, where the players can see in which areas they are lagging behind and what they need to work to do. This is very useful and in their future it will certainly bring positive results in their development, if they will get it right.”

    Radoslav Illo

“Peter has a vast experiences. As a hockey player he could see and play hockey in the North America. As a coach K&B Slovakia Stars he regularly participates at Pee Wee tournaments, where he met hockey legends like Mark Messier or Joe Sakic. Over the years he had an opportunity to learn from the best and he knows why the overseas players and coaches are the best at what they do. He improves and adapts the methods of modern hockey. I attended at his individual trainings and camps in Switzerland and Trencin, Slovakia. I highly recommend his professional work and I can say that he is comparable with the world leaders because I worked with skating coaches from the NHL. People like Peter are great for the development of our youth hockey players and I know that he will have a lot of success in this area.”
